Dishwashing Activity Set

This complete Dishwashing Set is designed to help children practice real-life skills with independence, order, and concentration. Perfect for Practical Life areas  in Montessori classrooms. Children can wash dishes and clean up after snack or lunch.

The whole set includes:

* 2 clear plastic wash basins

* 1 clear plastic pitcher

* 1 clear plastic pail 

* 1 metal drying rack with tray

* 1 dish-washing brush 

* 1 small plastic soap dispenser with pump

* 1 white tray

* 1 child-size apron

* 1 absorbent drying cloth

* 1 absorbent cleaning cloth

* 1 white utility sponge

Presentation:

1. Set Up the Work Area:

* Place 2 basins on the table.

* Place the drying rack with tray on the table.

* Next to the drying rack, place a tray with the following materials neatly arranged:

* Empty pitcher

 * Empty pail 

 * Dish-washing brush

  * Soap dispenser

  * White utility sponge

  * Drying cloth

  * Cleaning cloth

  * Apron

2. Put on the Apron:

The child begins the activity by putting on the apron.

3. Bring and Pour Water:

At the sink, the child fills the pitcher with clean water.

Returns and pours clean water into one basin. Repeats the same with another basin.

Adds a small amount of soap to the first basin for washing.

4. Wash the Dishes:

The child uses the dish-washing brush to scrub dishes in the soapy water.

Rinses each dish in the second basin with clean water.

5. Dry the Dishes:

 Places rinsed dishes in the drying rack.

6. Empty the Basins:

Carefully pours dirty water from the first basin into the bucket.

Carries the bucket to the sink and empties it.

Returns and repeats the same with the second basin.

7. Rinse and Dry:

At the sink, the child rinses the bucket and pitcher.

Uses the cloth to dry the basins, bucket, and pitcher.

8. Final Cleanup:

Uses the white utility sponge to wipe the tray and clean any spills on the table and on the tray.

9. Return the Materials:

Places the pitcher inside one of the basins.

Returns all items back to the tray, exactly as they were at the beginning, and places the tray next to the drying rack.

10. Check the Cloths:

The child checks the drying and cleaning cloths.

If they are too wet or dirty, places them on our drying rack 1.10.04A (not included in this set) to air dry.

Replaces them with clean cloths if needed.
