Montessori Nesting Boxes

These beautifully crafted Nesting Boxes are made of solid beech wood and designed specifically for toddlers aged 1 to 2 years. Their simple yet engaging design supports early exploration of spatial relationships, size discrimination, and problem-solving.

This wooden Montessori box features five holes of different diameters on the top surface. Beneath the holes, there is a flat sliding plate that temporarily holds the cylinders in place. Inside the box is a slanted ramp.

The child places the five wooden cylinders (same height, different diameters) into the corresponding holes — but they don’t fall through immediately. The sliding plate underneath prevents them from dropping.

This activity is an introduction to cause and effect, and predictability.

Children insert a few discs in a row in the back slot and then with each new one inserted, a disc slides out in the front, falling onto a peg.
