Farm Game 2 - With Adverb

Farm Game 2 – With Adverb is the next step after Farm Game 1 – Phonetic. While the first Farm Game uses simple phonetic words, this material introduces more advanced vocabulary that is no longer limited to simple phonetic patterns and adds the function of the adverb.

Children combine articles, adjectives, nouns, verbs, and adverbs to build and read complete sentences. Through this engaging Montessori grammar game, they expand their vocabulary, strengthen reading skills, and develop a deeper understanding of how words work together in a sentence.

One Material, Five Parts of Speech

Farm Game 2 brings five parts of speech together in one complete material. Teachers can use the farm objects with our prepared color-coded cards to work with the article, adjective, noun, verb, and adverb, moving from word recognition to more advanced sentence construction.

• Noun box: one black heading card labeled Noun and eight black noun cards.

How We Introduce the Adverb the Montessori Way

Introduction to the Adverb

Before working with Farm Game 2, the teacher presents a lively action game. The child performs a familiar action, such as walking, jumping, or speaking. The teacher then introduces different ways of performing the same action—for example, walking slowly, walking rapidly, or speaking loudly.

Through movement and conversation, the child discovers that an adverb gives us more information about how an action is performed.

The Adverb – Farm Game

For this presentation, the teacher takes the box containing the farm objects and the Noun, Article, Adjective, Verb, and Adverb boxes. The child places the objects on the table and arranges the article, adjective, noun, and verb cards as before.

Then, the child takes one orange adverb card at a time from the Adverb box, reads it, and places it after the verb card. The child reads the complete sentence, such as:

The loud rooster walks rapidly.

The fluffy sheep plays joyfully.

The happy cow eats slowly.

The child continues reading and arranging the cards to form complete sentences. Then, the teacher places the orange heading card Adverb above the adverb cards and explains that adverbs are represented by orange cards in these grammar games.
