Sound Objects Set with Activity Mats
Explore English speech sounds through hands-on activities with miniature objects. This set includes 176 mini objects in 44 labelled sound boxes, plus three single-sided laminated activity mats.
Each box contains four objects associated with a sound. Begin by naming the objects together and listening for the sound, then use the mats to extend the activities:
- Where Do You Hear the Sound? Identify whether the chosen sound occurs at the beginning, middle or end of a word.
- Clap & Sort Say each object’s name, clap its syllables and sort by syllable count.
- Rhyming Pairs Find and pair objects whose names rhyme.
Introduce a small selection of objects at a time, modelling their names and the activity before inviting the child to work independently.
